getting colderSpeed workout at the lake. Bit slippy so we were all a bit scared of falling. had to do 10 fast laps round the flower beds. -12 on arrival, -15 by the time we finished. Mind you I am glad I was not out in the morning at 5.30 as it was -21 at 8am and none of that takes in wind chill. I had ice on my hair outside the balaclava. We are nuts.

Training Gadgets and runningTraining Gadgets are good when they work. I had a very trying day today. By that I mean, I kept trying to get my Garmin Forerunner to work but it kept jumping around. I spent a good 15 minutes starting and re-starting my run. I finally gave up and ran my usual route. I'm not sure of the time it took or the exact mileage. I just ran. I may try to use this problem to "invest" in new equipment. So if you want to donate to the cause, I will allow you the opportunity!
Welome to WellnessThe main point from this week is that after giving into temptation I joined a gym. It is called The Wellness Club and is based about a 2 minute walk from my office so pretty much ideally situated for me. It's part of this "Wellness system" that provides you with a personal key that you put in each machine that records all the training data for analysis or you can preload plans onto it etc - very fancy! Also as an added bonus they wash my clothes after a workout and...
Back to the physio....No running today as I had a physio session booked. No new problems fortunately, just a maintenance session for my heel. Things are slowly improving, I didn't scream quite so much as usual today when he was prodding and poking it, and I've got a new set of stretches to do to improve things even more (fingers crossed there). The twinge in my hamstring from last weekend has all but disappeared and I've had no ill effects with it from Tuesdays run. I would like to get out for a little bimble...
London Marathon TrainingI went for my first training run last night in preparation for the London Marathon. It was my first run since the Great North Run in early October and it was horrid! I ran for 20 mins and didn't enjoy any of it!! I can't wait to get fit again so I can enjoy my runs....

Another post...Last night (whilst still having a bit of hip pain) I went to the running shop in Ashtead to get some 'proper' shoes. They confirmed that my hip pain was probably due to a turning in my foot whilst running. I bought some shoes which would help with that. I was also shown a stretch to help with the problems and advised to start pilates. With my new shoes on, I headed down the gym; first for a body combat session and then for a run on the treadmill. Whilst doing body combat, I realised how stiff my...
The story so far...Week 127th/28th & 30th October1.33 MilesGetting going - one to look back on when I get to the end and laugh.I started out trying to do this short run regularly just to try to get a bit of routine introduced. It was hideous the first time, I mean I felt like a total idiot wheezing my way round this pitiful distance past serious runners, but at least I did it and each run got easier than the previous one so I've started to feel a bit more confident. Dare I say it.. I'm possibly even...
